You don’t know what you’ve got ‘till it’s gone! “The Original” Edaville Railroad was a family-friendly magnet for steam fans and those wanting a relaxing ride. Four narrow-gauge steam locomotives, all veterans of Maine’s 2-foot gauge railroads, hauled passenger and occasional freight trains around the 5 1/2 mile loop.
One of the heights of every season was Railfan Day, featuring freight trains, double-headers, an occasional appearance by the famous Railbus, and good times! See it all in this digitally restored, color-corrected video from 1987 and 1991. Then stay tuned and see the then-closed park reopened for former Superintendent Fred Richardson’s 80th birthday - featuring “his” engine, #7 - and the 1997 Columbus Day weekend, with Edaville #3 and #7 smoking it up.
Includes bonus footage of newly-restored #7 strutting her stuff on the Wiscasset, Waterville and Farmington Railway in Alna, Maine, during the summer of 2021.
Come and relive the glory days of steam in South Carver! Over 1 hour of footage.
